Isuzu Challenge 2001

This off-road expedition (one of the toughest in the world) was held in India in June 2001 and Bob was invited to participate and lead ‘Team India’. His team-mates were his dear friends Suvir Mirchandani and Sardar Kishie Singh. This most grueling event was flagged off from the banks of the holy River Ganga in Rishikesh and made its way high into the Himalayas.

The 18 participating teams drove over some of the highest passes and on this 18 day long expedition they had to overcome the challenge of heights, and many suffered from acute high altitude sickness and had to be given oxygen. Bob says, “It was a great honour to be invited to lead ‘Team India’ and in the end I was the only participant to have driven single-handedly from start to finish. This expedition was an extreme test of your physical endurance and spirit, and I am glad ‘Team India’ gave such a good account of itself.
