He dropped out due to transmission problems Back then the Safari Rally was run on open public roads and always attracted crowds Enthusiastic spectators cheering for a participant. Note the Indian ladies standing by the side of the road Some Masai tribal warriors that Bob and Asif met in the African Bush Bob was also thrilled to meet many of his heroes including, Hannu Mikkola After the finish of the rally, they also enjoyed many of the local delicacies Bob is comfortably perched to view the rally cars In 1990, he drove over the rally route in an Isuzu Trooper Breakfast in the bush, while waiting for the rally cars He is possibly the first Indian to have covered a WRC event, way back in 1988 And he loved being at the event so much, that he went there in 1990 too He had access to most of the areas
